Task Groups

All current EINIRAS projects are managed by working groups, composed of representatives from different member institutions.

 

Task Group on Standardization

This group seeks to foster the practical cooperation on information and documentation issues among the network members by means of standardization. Standardization can here apply to the fields of both document analysis (e.g. terminology) as well as formal document description (e.g. cataloguing rules). As one of its present tasks, the group monitors the further development of the "European Thesaurus on International Relations and Area Studies" and seeks to identify new areas of its application for information retrieval in order to facilitate a maximum degree of use of this valuable terminological tool. The task group serves also as a forum for dissemination of relevant knowledge and professional exchange about developments in the field.

 

Task Group on ICT

This group monitors new developments in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and brings these to the attention of EINIRAS members through annual conference presentations.

The group's aim is to:

  • Foster the collection, exchange and dissemination of information among member institutions
  • Further cooperation between institutes by introducing new communication techniques
  • Fevelop and expand the EINIRAS Database Network (EDN).

Currently, the ICT task group maintains, operates and develops the EDN database system and the EINIRAS website. It also engages in technical counselling on communications and electronic publishing issues.

 

Task Group on Information Literacy

Established during the conference in Poland 2010. This group's objective for the first year is to:

  • Identify the skills and literacies needed by IR professionals
  • Prepare a draft guide for the conference of 2011 (expected date October 2011)
  • Chair: Chris Pallaris

Task Group on Funding

This group is tasked with securing funding for EINIRAS projects and activities.
